Definitions

cult: The word Cult has many definitions. In the context of our website the definition of a cult is as follows.

  1. Any individual or group of people that claim "we are Christians" and yet deviates from "Orthodox" or "Classical" Christianity. These DENY the Essentials of Christianity. Here at Test All Things we believe the Bible alone determines who and what a Christian is, or is not.
  2. Webster "a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also : its body of adherents"
  3. Or as Walter Martin put it "Any group of people who gather around one persons un-orthodox interpretation of the Bible".

Cultist use Christian terminology yet pour different meanings and or definitions into those terms. When incountering a cultist take the time to define your terminology.

eisegesis: reading into the text what is not there.

world religions: There are also "World Religions". These do not claim to be Christian, but are in contradistinction to Christianity.
